Angela Presents Certificates to Youngsters

Angela Smith had the honour of presenting youngsters from Ecclesfield School with certificates on successfully completing courses with the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN).

After giving the youngsters their awards, Angela went on to praise the work of Pits-Stop in giving kids the help they need to get their education back on track. She praised the youngsters for doing so well in their courses, thanked sponsors Abbey National for the help they have provided and praised staff at Pit-Stop for the work they do.

Commenting Angela said, “ASDAN is a pioneering curriculum development organisation which is internationally recognised. ASDAN is a success story for the teaching profession - growing from a handful of schools in the late 1980s to over 4,500 centres registered today.”

“One of the aims of the ASDAN awards is to help young people (11 – 15 yrs) who are experiencing difficulties at school and to help build up their confidence and their self-esteem. On the evidence of Friday this certainly seems to be the case at PitStop with many success stories on show.”

“I would like to congratulate all the work put in by the staff at ‘PitStop’; who are working with a number of children on the ASDAN programme. They offer a vital service for many youngsters who would find it difficult to cope with school”

“Finally, let’s not forget the youngsters as well, and let’s give them the congratulations they deserve for successfully completing their courses.”

The event which took place at Ecclesfield School on Friday 5th May was attended by the head teacher of Ecclesfield School, Michael Nolan, community Police Officer, Peter Booth and sponsors Abby National and many proud parents.
