Angela Backs Heroes Return 2 Programme

Angela Smith MP for Sheffield Hillsborough, has welcomed the news that there will be more financial backing from the Big Lottery Fund to the Heroes Return 2 programme.

Angela has happily signed Early Day Motion 1504 welcoming support to a programme that can offer a wide range of trips and visits to areas of military service where so much courage and sacrifice was made by Veterans and their fallen friends and comrades.

Angela said

“The announcement by the Big Lottery Fund is a fantastic commitment to such a worthy cause. We should all remember the sacrifices and bravery that all service men and women have shown in the course of British history so that today we can live in the free democratic society that we all take for granted. The Heroes Return 2 programme offers an opportunity for Veterans to revisit areas of their service and to truly reflect on the importance of their duty during the Second World War”

The programme now hopes that further funding and Parliamentary support will encourage more veterans to apply to the Big Lottery Fund and make their own journey to areas of past deployment and service.

The Heroes Return 2 helpline 0845 00 00 121 has been set up to provide further information on the programme and details of how to apply. Information is also available on www.biglotteryfund.org.uk

Angela is pictured with Harold Shaw, one of our country’s brave veterans, whose medals she helped to secure from the Ministry of Defence a couple of years ago. The medals, which were due to Harry for service in WW2 and Palestine, had not been given to him because of a mix up over his demob papers.
