Stocksbridge Scouts to get a refurbished hut
Local Stocksbridge Scouts group recently got a visit from local MP, Angela Smith to see the progress being made on refurbishing their Scout hut.
Their home has got into a terrible state over the last few years with water damage to the roof and many other parts of the building needing some tender, loving care.
Now with the help of funding from Stocksbridge Town Council things are about to change. Already they have fixed the leaks in the roof and over the summer it is hoped they can get the interior completely renovated with new toilets and new kitchen. The group is also looking for more grants to help clean up the outside of the building and replace the old heating system.
Commenting Angela Smith, said,
“With over two hundred kids from various groups using the hut during the week it is good that Stocksbridge Scouts are now looking to renovate the building. Thanks must go to Stocksbridge Council for helping with the grant to enable this. Now the hard work starts to get the building up to a decent standard. The group also need hard working volunteers to help and if local tradesman could offer this to Scout Group I am sure it would be most appreciated.”
“There is no doubt the Scouts do a great job in giving many youngsters a great sense of purpose.”
