Planting the future

Angela along with Stocksbridge Mayor Susie Abrahams have planted an Oak on the village green of the village of Bolsterstone to commemorate the Queens Diamond Jubilee.

The Oak sapling is one of 400 grown by the Royal estates and given to the Scouts to commemorate the historic nature of the Jubilee. Commenting on the planting of the tree, Angela said; The village already has a memorable of Queen Victoria’s diamond Jubilee, a Sycamore planted in the late 19th century. The planting of this tree is a nice addition to that. I’d like to say it will be nice to come back and see the tree when its fully grown, however, I think by then I’ll be long gone, but I do hope one of my successes as the areas MP will one day pop along and remember the residents who once lived here, as we remember those who were around during Victoria’s reign.
