About Sheffield Hillsborough

Sheffield Hillsborough lies to the north of the city of Sheffield forming part of South Yorkshire in the North of England.

In both physical and population terms it is the largest of the Sheffield constituencies, having an electorate of about 74,000.The area has excellent transport connections and is a popular place to live.

It is largely made up of a series of villages and towns from Stocksbridge on the North West, Walkley in the South and High Green in the North.

Surprisingly for a city constituency, a third of Hillsborough lies in the Peak District National Park. In fact the area has a record number of reservoirs within its boundaries, a staggering ten in total.

Another fact not known by many is that Sheffield Wednesday's Football Club home, Hillsborough Stadium, is not in fact within its boundaries but in neighbouring Brightside.

The largest employer in the constituency is the steel works at Stocksbridge where about 650 people produce specialist steels. Another area of employment is the Thorncliffe Industrial Estate, which straddles the M1 near Chapeltown in the North East of the constituency.
