Sheffield Floods

On the 25th June 2007 Sheffield experienced the worst floods in over 160 years. Many people in the Hillsborough Constituency have suffered greatly, with many seeing their homes ruined by the incoming river Don.

Commenting on the floods, Angela Smith MP says, " My heartfelt sympathy goes out to those people who have suffered in Hillsborough constituency. Many areas have suffered from Stocksbridge in the north to Chapeltown and Ecclesfield in the east and Hillsborough in the south.  When visiting many areas in the constituency, I have been impressed by people's determination to get their lives back on track.

Along with other the Sheffield MPs I have been working with government to make sure the people of Hillsborough's concerns are heard. "

"Now the water has receded people will be starting to rebuild their homes, businesses and lives. The months ahead will no doubt be difficult and if I can do anything to help anyone I will do.

Please contact my office if you need my help."

"One word of caution, it has been reported to me that companies are knocking on people's doors who are offering services which may not be all they are cracked up to be. If an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is!!"
